24 Major & Minor Triads

A list of the 24 commonly-used major and minor triads as well as their pattern on a piano keyboard. For each triad, you'll find a simple sentence that acts as a mnemonic to remember the notes in the triad. 3-word sentences where the first letter of each word represents the note.

Here are some pointers to help get the most out of it:

    • Try to visualize an avatar representing the person and the action they are doing in your head, make them exaggerated/ridiculous if needed. This will help you remember, for example, that Charlie represents the note C and that Christine represents C#. Maybe visualize them wearing a t-shirt with the note on it. Make some characters nerdy, others sporty, etc. Visualizing detailed imagery like that is a great memory technique.
    • You only have to remember the major triads, because it's easy to then deduct the minor triad for the same root note just by flattening the 2nd note in the chord.
